Cast Rounds Out As Production Begins On "Stonewall"

Screen reports that Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ron Perlman and Joey King have joined the true life drama "Stonewall".

The story chronicles the events around the June 28th 1969 police raid on The Stonewall Inn in New York’s Greenwich Village section. The resulting riots resulted in a massive push for the gay rights movement around the world.

"War Horse" actor Jeremy Irvine will play a young man named Danny whose political awakening forms our conduit into these groundbreaking events.

Danny meets the suave Danny (Meyers) but catches the eye of the Stonewall's repulsive manager (Perlman) who colludes with corrupt police, exploits homeless youth for financial gain, and is even suspected to have had a hand in some 'disappearances'.

King will play the sister of Irvine's character.

X-Men: First Class and Antiviral star Caleb Landry Jones would play Orphan Annie, a gay street hustler who forms a bond with Irvine and ends up participating in the movement.

Jonny Beauchamp would play Ray Castro, another gay activist and one of the first men arrested during the riots. He's also a love interest for Irvine's character.

Karl Glusman Vlademir Alexis, and also star.

Roland Emmerich will call action here using a script written by Jon Robin Baitz.

The film will be produced by Emmerich Michael Fossat and Marc Frydman.

Kirstin Winkler, Adam Press and Michael Roban will executive produce the film

Production has started in and around Montreal. Emmerich is prepping the long gestating Independence Day sequels at the same time.
