Cooper Will Chart "Granite Mountain Hotshots"

Filmmaker Scott Cooper ("Crazy Heart," "Out of the Furnace") is to direct the true story tale "Granite Mountain Hotshots" says Deadline.

The film tells the story of a firefighting crew that lost nineteen men stopping Arizona's Yarnell Hill Wildfire in 2013.

Ken Nolan ("Black Hawk Down") will write the screenplay.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Michael Menchel, Dawn Ostroff and Jeremy Steckler will produce the film with Erik Howsam as exec producer.

Sole survivor Brendan McDonough and the crew leader's widow Amanda Marsh are consulting on  the project.

Cooper is at work on the James "Whitey" Bulger biopic "Black Mass" starring Johnny Depp
