Pacific Rim 2: GdT Working With Penn On The Script

Out doing promotion for the July bow of "The Strain" TV series, filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro told Buzzfeed that the proposed sequel Pacific Rim 2 is alive and well with scripting underway:

"I'm working very, very hard with Zak Penn ("The Incredible Hulk," "X-Men: The Last Stand"). We've been working for a few months now in secret. We found a way to twist it around. Travis Beacham (co-writer of the original "Pacific Rim") was involved in the storyline and now I'm writing with Zak because Travis has become a TV mogul."

Del Toro also confirms that the latest draft of the script includes characters Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi).

"Some people were wondering if we were going to do the prequel. I was never interested in doing that first wave of invasion. I'm going for very new, very crazy ideas on the second one, which are very different from the first one — but you will get really great spectacle."

The $190 million-budget first film grossed $411 million at the global box-office getting solid reviews I loved the movie!! It performed far beyond expectations in terms of disc sales and merchandise.

Despite this, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have yet to green light part 2.
