The story is described as an "outrageously inappropriate" comedy following a clever double-crossed mob hitman (Kevin Hart) who ends up partnering with the notorious hit man The Black Phantom (Jackson) who has been hired to kill him.
Jackson replaces Jamie Foxx who had to bow out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.
The comedy has been in development at Screen Gems since 2009, when the studio picked up the script from first-time writers Dave Lease and Megan Hinds.
"Ride Along" director Tim Story is set to direct the film.
Will Packer and Will Gluck will produce the movie. Studio president Clint Culpepper will executive produce the project
Jackson will likely shoot the film before he gets to work on Quentin Tarantino's upcoming western "The Hateful Eight".
