Cameras Roll On "Magic Mike XXL"

Warner Bros has announced the official production start for the upcoming sequel "Magic Mike Xxl".


Steven Soderbergh's longtime assistant director Gregory Jacobs ("Criminal," "Wind Chill") is taking over the helm of the film. Jacobs served as both assistant director and producer on the first "Magic Mike," while Soderbergh will stay on as an executive producer director of photography, camera operator and film editor for the sequel. Star Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin penned the script for the second film.

Tatum told GQ that the sequel sees Mike and some of the others heading out on a road trip tour of stripper conventions. Now a new synopsis is out:

"Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, 'Magic Mike XXL' finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways."

Tatum,Matt Bomer Joe Manganiello Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and comedian Gabriel Iglesias are back--joined by newcomers Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Strahan .

Alex Pettyfer and Matthew McConaughey are NOT reprising their roles as Adam and Dallas. 

"Magic Mike XXL" is set for release on Wednesday, July 1st 2015.
