Jeremy Renner Talks Solo Hawkeye & " Ultron"

While there has been lots of talk about the potential for a solo film for Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) from Marvel's movies, there hasn't been any discussion about a standalone film for Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye.

Speaking with MTV, while on the stump for the October 10th biopic "Kill The Messenger", Renner has no issue with that saying that the character is one that works better as part of a group and doesn't require his own film:

"I'm happy to be the ensemble. I'm not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think he's a utility guy that can bounce around into other people's universes a little bit, especially like 'Cap 3.' There are whispers of that, so who knows, man?"

There has been talk that Hawkeye could play a major role in Captain America 3 essentially his screen time in that being the equivalent of Johansson's in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Meanwhile, Renner also says his appearance in Joss Whedon's superhero team up sequel "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" will make up for his limited screen time in "The Avengers" where he spent half the film as a brainwashed bad guy:

"What Joss and I initially talked about, and even Feige and I talked about...Joss and I had been friends for a long time, and we talked with Downey and Ruffalo about where we wanted to go with the script. Ultimately, Joss, I think, realized he was doing the impossible in having to write Marvel's The Avengers. That is an impossibility, and he pulled it out. The only way he could do it, and have me in the movie with any sort of sizable part, was to be the bad guy essentially. And be...Not Hawkeye...It's a tough introduction to the character. Its not what we talked about, and what got me excited about doing the movie. But that's fine. I again, trust in him. We got to put it in the second one. Pretty much what we talked about for the first one is really what we are able to put into the second one. And ten fold. It has more weight, and its great because of it."

Captain America 3 will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely have handed in the latest draft of the script. Production on the next film is slated to begin in April in Atlanta, Georgia for its May 6th 2016 bow.

Post-production  on the 'Avengers 2' is well underway to meet a release date of May 1, 2015.
