The next book in the series is set a year later. Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) is approached by a young journalist couple with a meticulously researched thesis about Swedish sex trafficking ring involving high-ranking public and private figures. When both they and Lisbeth Salander's (Rooney Mara) abusive former guardian is found murdered, Lisbeth is pegged as the prime suspect. The trail leads to a dark incident in Lisbeth's past and a mysterious figure known only as 'Zala' who is the key to everything.

Fincher think the sequel will get made--he told the Swedish news site Afton Bladet (and translated) recently:
"I think because Sony has already spent millions of dollars on the rights and the script, it will result in something. The script that we have now has huge potential, I can reveal that it is extremely different from the book."
Fincher's 'Dragon Tattoo' made $102 million domestically and $232 million worldwide--from a costly $90 million budget. The Swedish language version released in '09 generated $104 million worldwide from a budget of just $13 million.
I enjoyed both versions of "Dragon" quite a lot. I hope the US take on "Fire" gets the go ahead...
