David Gordon Green will direct a horror thriller based on the graphic novel series "Freaks of the Heartland says The Hollywood Reporter.The Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) six-part 2004 series sees teenager Trevor Owen's attempt to protect his "monster" of a 6-year-old younger brother, along with the other "freaks" oft he rural Middle American town called Gristlewood Valley, from their parents' worst instincts.
Peter Sattler and Geoffrey Davey adapted the tale which Niles will co-produce.
The film version of 30 Days of Night turned out better than expected--With Green having helmed Pineapple Express...It's another odd pairing of helmer and material...
Meantime Green also lined up quite a cast for a TV project he's working on...
