You Booze You Lose

British sensation Russell Brand is developing and potentially starring in a remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore comedy classic Arthur says The Hollywood Reporter.

The original story followed a boozy playboy who is set to inherit a fortune if he marries an heiress His family thinks this will make something out of him.

But instead, he falls in love with a working-class waitress played by Liza Minnelli. He turns to his butler for help when his family makes him choose between money and love.

The original got Oscar notices for best actor Moore and director Steve Gordon, and won for supporting actor (Sir John Gielgud) and song Arthur's Theme (The Best That You Can Do) by Christopher Cross.

Brand is meeting with scribes to write the screenplay.

As talented and as funny as Brand (see Forgetting Sarah Marshall)-Filling Moore's shoes is a tough sell for me...This is a film that shouldn't get a redo-doesn't need it.
