A remake of the 1985 comedy Real Genius is in the works says Pajiba.
The 25 year old pic centers on a teenager (Val Kilmer) who joins a think tank of young geniuses building a laser for a class project. They soon learn their professor intends to hand their work over to the military and they decide to put a stop to it.
A "second take" on the script is now out to writers. The project has no link to a rumored sequel that was out there years ago.

Meanwhile-The Toxic Avenger is being remade says Deadline New York.
The family friendly movie will be produced by Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, The Losers), Richard Saperstein (Hancock) and Charlie Corwin
