According to The Los Angeles Times, New Line Cinema and Warner Bros.have halted development of the video game inspired Gears of War movie and are scaling back the film's story and budget.
A source claims "the studio has now cut the budget, going from a film that would have cost more than $100 million to one that will cost a good chunk less than that. It's also reined in the story, turning it into a more simple, straight-ahead invasion story instead of a sprawling epic."
The script by Chris Morgan (Wanted) and Billy Ray (Breach) is now being tossed out, another writer is being sought.
Director Len Wiseman, will instead focus on the post-apocalyptic mystery "Nocturne"
Proves what I have said about video game flicks...A hard sell...
