Fish Tales

And now for something a bit different from director Jason Christopher on TLR

I saw True Grit [on Saturday January 8th] during the mild snow show we had. Got home then went to a friends house and ordered a movie off Netflix "Catfish" A suspenseful documentary. All I really have to say for this is...this world is messed up. People in this world are whacked out of their minds.

Real Or Not?

We follow a guy, Niv, who is a photographer in NYC and in one article he did a little 8 year old Abby mails him her artwork and then the family gets involved and the older sister Megan starts to have a crush on Niv. And this other family is from Michigan. A few months go by and Niv and this girl Megan start having this long distance relationship going on. Another few months go on and things are slowly starting to unfold. I can't really say much because I'd give everything away. But lets say, amazing. The best documentary I've seen in a long time.

Now the whole thing I don't know is if it's really true. Why would they be filming this whole time and stuff out of randomness? During the first screening of the movie at film festivals a lot of people were like "that's the best fake documentary ever." But the filmmakers say it's 100% true and that they were lucky to have captured it from the beginning.

My friend and I had a small debate if it was real. Our conclusion is that is has to be real. Some of the elements they use in the flick are just way too messed up to just use in a fake documentary. Once you see it, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Catfish is now available on Blu-ray and DVD

I have not seen the film yet... but in doing some research on it after reading this review--folks seem really divided on whether it's real or not, Landing on the "fake" side of things--actor Zach Galifianakis (read his comments here) and doc maker Morgan Spurlock (click here)

The Debate Continues...

Jay is of course now working on his latest pic called Down the Road (Watch The Teaser Trailer) You can also follow the film's post-production on Twitter @ and on Facebook
