Ben Affleck is in talks to direct the Iran hostage crisis pic "Argo" says The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on Joshuah Bearman's 2007 Wired magazine article, the wry political thriller would be centered on what happened during the occupation of the American embassy by Iranians in 1979, when a rescue effort was mounted by the CIA and the Canadian government to extract six U.S. diplomats.
The CIA used a disguise expert and concocted a scenario that involved the six being a Hollywood crew scouting a sci-fi movie titled "Argo:. Using those disguises, and with the help of artwork by legendary comics creator Jack Kirby, they were able to flee the country.
Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay
Should Ben take on the pic it would be quite a change for him after "Gone Baby Gone" and "The Town"
David Klawans, George Clooney and Grant Heslov will produce the pic
