Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel is trying something different...
You can forget all of those Lois Lane casting rumors making the rounds this week...
Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike are the three actresses in contention for the female lead in the film reports Variety.
The character's identity hasn't been revealed as yet, it has been confirmed that it will NOT be Lois Lane. The studio doesn't want a name that could overshadow leading man Henry Cavill. so it's bye bye Olivia Wilde and Rachel McAdams as Lois.
The studio is also in search of its villain, but which character will be used (ie. Lex Luthor, General Zod, Brainiac, Darkseid) is not yet known
Zack Snyder directs from a script by David Goyer with Christopher Nolan producing.
Believe it ot not I'm not as bothered by the no Lois thing as you might think I would be since Goyer is using Geoff Johns work on the Secret Origins storyline as inspiration-- in theory you could make the absence of Lois work
Production will start this summer with a December 2012 release date.
