Matthew McConaughey will star in the long-gestating drama The Dallas Buyer's Club reports 24 Frames.
The film is the true story of Ron Woodroof, a tough Texas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live. Frustrated with the lack of available medical options and unwilling to accept a death sentence, Woodroof found a lifeline using alternative drugs and created a lucrative smuggling business that made those drugs available to AIDS patients. He died in 1992.
"It's not exactly the movie that studios are throwing money at these days," McConaughey said."It's a great script and a great story," he said. "And I think it can be a great movie."
Jean-Marc Vallée will direct the drama
Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling were gonna star in the pic at different points along the way with helmers Marc Forster and Craig Gillespie also circling.
Glad McConaughey is doing drama again getting away from all those fluffy rom-coms he'd been doing of late save for the March 18 pic The Lincoln Lawyer He can be quite good . Don't think so? Watch A Time To Kill and We Are Marshall
