Gothamites

Let's talk The Dark Knight Rises

Gary Oldman spoke to Collider about the film recently and said- "I have not read the script. But I have talked to Christopher Nolan about the story. It's fantastic. You can't top The Dark Knight, and I think he may have"....And then he told E! Online that an old school Batman villain would be popping up.

"I think it's a villain from one of the old, old, from way back from the old comics. It is a Batman villian...It's not going to be the Joker. If I told you who the villain was, they'd kill me."

Might there be a cameo by Aaron Eckhart as Two-Face...?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's role in the upcoming sequel was supposed to be kept a secret.

Now Variety reports that he will be playing Alberto Falcone, aka The Holiday Killer. The character figured heavily in the great comic book epic arc The Long Halloween, in which Alberto, refused a place at his father's side in the Gotham Mafia, goes on a Halloween killing spree. He then continues to pop up on various holidays, taking out members of the criminal underworld. He is captured by Bruce Wayne after murdering Sal Maroni (Eric Roberts in TDK)

Tom Wilkinson portrayed Alberto's father Carmine Falcone in Batman Begins,

And then there's the Liam Neeson/Ken Watanabe  role of Ra's Al Ghul in 2005's "Bats Begins",

Though Neeson tells Empire (via Digital Spy) that he will not be appearing in TDKR, not even in flashback form.

"That rumour is totally not true. In the comic books, Ra's Al Ghul goes into a life bath of some sort and immerses himself to become immortal. So that's probably where that comes from. But no-one's approached me with an offer. I'd like to if it happens" .

Meantime Juno Temple ("Kaboom") has been cast as a "street-smart Gotham girl."

Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman Michael Caine and Christian Bale star

Nolan's proved immune to the curse of too many characters in his Bat-films thus far--I'm hopeful that streak continues
