Franchise Man Renner

Risky Biz Blog has confirmed that the lead role in Tony Gilroy's The Bourne Legacy has been offered to Oscar-nominee Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town).

Written and directed by Gilroy Renner would play a new character within the Bourne universe, an agent in a different covert government program than the one  Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne was trapped in. Damon will not appear in the film his character will be a presence in the new franchise restarter

Frank Marshall, Jeffrey M. Weiner and Ben Smith will produce.

Renner just finished Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and is gearing up for The Avengers, once Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters wraps . His name was among scores and scores of actors considered as Gilroy and the studio suits tried to narrow down who would play the new lead in the Bourne spin-off.

At least Renner won't be known for one franchise But he might be tired...
