From Funny To "Odd"

Comedian Patton Oswalt has joined the cast of  Stephen Sommers' film adaptation of Dean Koontz 2003 novel Odd Thomas reports Variety.



The story follows Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin), an optimistic twenty-year-old short-order cook who can see both dead people and the shadowy figures called 'bodachs' that appear around death and disaster.When bodachs seem to be swarming around a diner customer he nicknames 'Fungus Man', Odd is convinced the man is connected to a terrible catastrophe about to occur.

Oswalt will play Oswald "Ozzie" P. Boone, an eccentric artist who designs sculptures, including a steel pendant that Thomas wears around his neck

Scream 4 co star Nico Tortorella Addison Timlin are up for roles; While THR finally confirms Willem Dafoe  as the Sheriff

Sommers is directing from a script he adapted. Howard Kaplan and John Baldecchi will produce the picture.

Nice to see Patton step out of comedy comfort zone; Oswalt will also be seen in theaters later this year for Jason Reitman's Young Adult

Production is due to kick off May 2nd in Santa Fe, New Mexico
