Liam Neeson’s Cameo in “The Hangover: Part 2” Gets Cut

Mel Gibson was announced to have a cameo in Todd Phillips’ The Hangover: Part Two, his inevitable follow-up to the 2009 surprise hit The Hangover. Thanks to Gibson’s tumultuous personal life, however, controversy ensued, and Gibson was thrown out on the sidewalk in favor of Liam Neeson, who enjoyed a major comeback with Taken and continues to be successful in the action genre.

According to Variety, though, the footage with Neeson will not be seen when the film arrives in theaters on May 26. Phillips states that the scene following the cameo was removed, rendering Neeson’s cameo and the scene in which it appears pointless to the narrative. Nick Cassavetes steps in for the cameo role.

While I appreciate that Phillips cares enough about the film to not leave in a cameo that’s apparently and currently unnecessary, I was really looking forward to seeing Neeson here. Don’t worry, though; I can’t imagine that it won’t appear on the DVD in some way.

How do you feel about Liam Neeson’s cameo being removed?
