Odd Gets Raw

Gugu Mbatha-Raw has joined the cast of  Stephen Sommers' film adaptation of Dean Koontz 2003 novel Odd Thomas says Variety.

The story follows Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin), an optimistic twenty-year-old short-order cook who can see both dead people and the shadowy figures called 'bodachs' that appear around death and disaster.When bodachs seem to be swarming around a diner customer he nicknames 'Fungus Man', Odd is convinced the man is connected to a terrible catastrophe about to occur.

Mbatha-Raw will play Viola, a waitress who raises two young girls after their junkie mother dies.

Scream 4 co star Nico Tortorella Addison Timlin Patton Oswalt and Willem Dafoe co star.

Sommers is directing from a script he adapted. Howard Kaplan and John Baldecchi will produce the picture.

Production is due to kick off May 2nd in Santa Fe, New Mexico
