Nina Dobrev (TV's "The Vampire Diaries") has been cast in the indie coming-of-age drama Perks of Being a Wallflower says Deadline.
Based upon Stephen Chbosky’s novel the story follows the trials and tribulations of a 15-year-old shy and unpopular high school student (Logan Lerman) who writes a series of letters to a mysterious penpal.
Dobrev will play Candace
Emma Watson Paul Rudd and Mae Whitman also star.
Chbosky adapted the screenplay and makes his feature directorial debut on the project.
Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith will produce while actor John Malkovich will serve as an executive producer.
Shooting kicks off next month in Pittsburgh.
