The Marc Parent book Turning Stones: My Days and Nights with Children at Risk arrived on shelves in 1996. The non-fictional prose accounted for “children in various situations of child abuse”. Director Tim Roth can relate to these tragic stories: he dealt with child abuse growing up, and War Zone, his directing debut, dealt with similar issues.
Now Roth looks to bring these troubling stories to the screen again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’ll adapt Turning Stones into a motion picture, aiming for Sam Rockwell to lead the film. He also desires to film in digital. His own words:
“It will give me real control of the atmosphere surrounding the children,” said Roth. “I can do take after take, I don't have to worry about money or how much [film] stock I've got, or about the guy who takes the film to the lab in the middle of the night having a crash because he's out of beer.”
