“Xerxes” Gets a Title Change

Zack Snyder wowed audiences with his shocker hit 300. Who knew that a film set in ancient times could be such a monster hit?

He’s fallen by the wayside since then, with less-than-impressive showings for Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole and, most recently, Sucker Punch, but he looks to make a comeback with a  the Superman reboot  It begs the question what about that sequel to 300?

Formerly titled Xerxes, we have no idea what the film will be called now; Mark Canton, producer for the film, told MTV recently. In regards to Snyder, here’s what he has to say:

Soon we’ll know what we’re doing. But I don’t see us waiting two years to make the movie and Zack is very much at the helm of it at the same time.”

Whether or not Snyder returns, we should have a great action film on our hands at least. In relation to the film’s tone compared to that of 300, Canton says this:

Yeah. I think that’s one of the things is you have to be faithful. Anything less will not satisfy us or the audience. It ain’t gonna happen.”

Though I wouldn’t defend the film at all on a critical level, 300 works phenomenally as an action film and boasts some surprisingly strong performances. That being said, I can’t wait for this currently untitled project.

How do you feel about the name change and the film in general?
