Darren Aronofsky Flies Away From "Red Sparrow"

Heat Vision says that Darren Aronofsky is no longer directing the film adaptation of author Jason Matthews spy novel "Red Sparrow".

Set in contemporary Russia, the story follows a female state intelligence officer drafted against her will to become a 'Sparrow,' a trained seductress in the service. She is soon assigned a first-tour CIA officer who handles the agency's most sensitive penetration of Russian intelligence. The two young officers collide in a charged atmosphere of deception and sexual attraction. She soon seeks revenge against her soulless masters, whilst helping the CIA to ferret out a high-level traitor in Washington.

Steve Zaillian, Peter Chernin and Garrett Basch will produce the movie.

Aronofsky had been in talks to do the movie since last August but has now decided to move on. He's  considering other options for his next film once his Biblical tale "Noah" gets released in March.
