Aronofsky May Help The "Red Sparrow" Fly

Director Darren Aronofsky is in early talks to direct an adaptation of author Jason Matthews
spy novel "Red Sparrow" says Deadline.


Set in contemporary Russia, the story follows a female state intelligence officer drafted against her will to become a 'Sparrow,' a trained seductress in the service.She is soon assigned a first-tour CIA officer who handles the agency's most sensitive penetration of Russian intelligence. The two young officers collide in a charged atmosphere of deception and sexual attraction.She soon seeks revenge against her soulless masters, whilst helping the CIA to ferret out a high-level traitor in Washington.

Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch will produce the film

Aronofsky is currently finishing the Biblical epic "Noah" which stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson and Anthony Hopkins.
