Earlier this week, it was announced that Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema pushed back its release of the horror sequel The Conjuring 2 Originally due to open on October 23rd next year, the studio has instead opted for an unspecific 2016 release..
Now we know why. Deadline reports that James Wan, who directed The Conjuring has inked a first-look
producing deal with New Line which includes a commitment to direct the spooky sequel.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are set to return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The next movie will explore another of their famous cases investigating the paranormal. Writers Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes will pen the script
Wan is still busy in post on Fast & Furious 7
and will shoot "Conjuring 2" next summer once he's done doing press
commitments for the pic which opens
April 3rd.
Universal has an option on Wan to return for Fast & Furious 8--but have made mo decision regarding whether he will return. They
have allowed him to direct "The Conjuring 2" as his next film.
