Series creator Doug Ellin wrote the script from which he directed. The film would continue to follow the Hollywood lives of actor Vincent Chase, his manager and agent, his under-appreciated TV actor brother and the childhood pal/driver who form his inner circle. The story starts six months after the TV series left off.
The entire cast is back- Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Jeremy Piven.
Billy Bob Thornton will play a billionaire cowboy-turned-film financier who sends his twenty-something son to keep an eye on things on set of the latest flick he’s financing - Vincent Chase's upcoming big-budget Dracula movie. Mixed Martial Arts fighter Ronda Rousey and The Sixth Sense and A.I. star Haley Joel Osment also star.
Perrey Reeves is to reprise her role of Melissa Gold, the long-suffering high-society wife of Ari. Constance Zimmer will return as Dana Gordon, an abrasive movie executive who often butted heads with Ari and, at one time, dated him. Rex Lee will reprise the role of Lloyd, the gay Chinese-American assistant to super agent Ari. Debi Mazar will reprise her role as sharp tongued publicist Shauna. Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton would play Vince's girlfriend in the pic. Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi will play Gold's new assistant. It seems Lloyd has been promoted to an agency rep in the film. Liam Neeson took time out of his "Non-Stop" to film a cameo as himself in the movie and was seen in Los Angeles shooting a scene with Piven. Model/actress Emily Ratajkowski, who appeared in singer Robin Thicke's controversial music video Blurred Lines, is set to play herself. Fellow model Nina Agdal is also said to be in the film.
The film has a June 12th 2015 release date--it's going head to head with "Jurassic World".
Warner Bros may end up moving the film to get it out of the way of the crammed Summer 2015 tentpole season. The challenge though is if the film can breakthrough and find to a mainstream global audience
The show's overnight ratings were a fraction of the numbers the cable net gets for shows like "Game of Thrones," "True Detective" and "True Blood". It also doesn't have that obvious demo appeal that something like the Sex and the City TV Series had. Nonetheless EP Mark Wahlberg thinks the film is fantastic and deserves a sequel
