Wahlberg Wants A "Boardwalk Empire" Movie

Although the HBO period crime drama series "Boardwalk Empire" ended its 5 year run this past fall Executive Producer  Mark Wahlberg tells NJ.com (via Movies.com) that he plans to do for 'Boardwalk' what he did for "Entourage"- ensure the show lives on with a big screen return:

"My next goal now is to get the movie made and start talking to Martin Scorsese about directing it."

Scorsese directed the pilot episode of the show, which was created by Terence Winter, with the director taking home an Emmy Award for Best Direction in a Drama Series.

Given the fate of Atlantic City kingpin Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (Steve Buscemi) at the end of the last episode --it would be hard to continue the story. Nope. Wahlberg seemingly suggests a prequel, story: "We can always go back."

I'm not sure how they could possibly accomplish this, even going back. This last season was all about Nucky's backstory. Unless they show his relationship with the young Jimmy, that I would definitely watch.
