Variety reports that current awards season contender David Oyelowo has signed on to join the film adaptation of author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novel "Americanah".
The 2013 National Book Critics Circle
award winner follows a romance between two young Nigerians, a love that
spans continents, visas, phone cards and breakups. At the same time it
explores the cruelties and the humor of both the modern immigrant
experience and the difficulty of finding your way home.
A director, writer or release schedule has not been announced yet.
Brad Pitt's Plan B Productions®, which produced "12 Years a Slave", has acquired the film rights to the book.
Pitt will produce while Lupita Nyong'o will produce and star.Andrea Calderwood also produces the film.
