William Shatner has confirmed on his video blog that pal Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock--will appear in Star Trek--the 11th film in the series, but he will not.



The Older Spock Is In But Kirk Is Not


This confirmation comes as a bit of a surprise--given what Shatner means to the franchise--and fans of the space saga--in general. We may never know for sure whether or not the decision to exclude Shatner was either financial creative or a combination of the two. While Nimoy is no slouch and has done wonderful things for Trek over its 4 decades--How great would it be to see Kirk and Spock share the screen one more time, I suppose it's only fair that Nimoy comes along now since Shatner showed up for Star Trek: Generations. Besides, Nimoy was there from the very beginning in the original series' first pilot The Cage, with late actor Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Chris Pike. Still...

Meanwhile, Trek's director JJ Abrams is getting set to make a presentation on the film, at this year's Comic-Con International: (July 26th-29th) in San Diego...

Finally...The folks over at Trek Movie Report have created their own teaser trailer for the new film to whet whistles while waiting for principal photography to begin this fall...
