Forget all those Russell Crowe casting rumors for a certain sci-fi flick...Another Aussie actor has taken the role...StarTrek.com has announced that villain in the new Star Trek film will be played by Eric Bana (pictured).
According to the site, the 38 year-old Aussie will be playing a character called ‘Nero,’ but no other details were provided.
However, a source tells Trek movie.com that Nero is a Romulan. The name fits with Trek’s tradition of portraying the Romulan Empire as a futuristic version of ancient Rome.
Wow! Bana came out of nowhere. He makes for a good choice to play the villain...
Now--if they could just let us know who's going to play Kirk, McCoy Scotty, and Sulu, I'd be a happy Trekker
