Spaced Invader

The rumors surrounding the 2008 cinematic reboot of Star Trek are just too interesting for me to ignore...

The folks at IGN finally gave up the name of the actor that tops both director J.J. Abrams and the studio's wish list to play the villain--that the site teased a few days ago. It's none other than Russell Crowe!

While this rumor is still miles away from reality....My first thought: How cool would that be!

Russ Le' Trek?

Even if Crowe's name is just being bandied about...This shows that Paramount is obviously willing to invest big buck-a-roos to breathe life back into Star Trek...

Getting Russell Crowe in a Star Trek movie isn't all Tribbles and Plomeek soup though. Any chance the studio has at him would mean making a few concessions--I'm sure.

And while you guarantee more butts to fill the theater seats--the danger in having Crowe on the project, is that he shifts the focus away from the audience getting reacquainted with the classic characters--being played by the new cast...

Stay Tuned...
