The film will be written by Michael Cunningham who also penned the novel The Hours which was also adapted into a film starring Kidman
Cunningham tells New York Magazine that "[Springfield] was a great artist who no one knew what to do with. She was coming into her full powers at the same time the Beatles were, but she is clearly going into history with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones."
Cunningham promises the film would include her lonely years in exile from the U.K. in Hollywood, the drinking and the drugs, her tortured bisexual/lesbian love life that sprinkled throughout her career, that ended when she died of cancer in 1999.
Talk about perfect casting...
