Knight Watch

With the release of The Dark Knight just 2 weeks away now...Behold....

*The early reviews for the sequel are very positive...

AICN:

"The film feels more like a crime drama in a grand city scape than a typical comic book movie. It feels like Heat except Batman is Al Pacino and The Joker is Robert De Niro and just like in that film we have a great scene between Heath Ledger and Christian Bale across a table. There is also an element of a Greek Tragedy. There is a vast sense of morality at play within the film".

Wired.com talked with Christopher Nolan in which he talks about the lack of CG effects in the film. Nolan apparently shot as much as possible for real --I say Bravo!!- one notable exception was a jump off a Hong Kong skyscraper which couldn't be done because the Chinese authorities wouldn't allow it.

There's also an interesting interview at The Los Angeles Times with score composers James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer

On their theme for the Joker - "It's an intense eight-minute piece that comes off like an orchestral interpretation of a something created by Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails. Zimmer says the work is only two notes, but the two notes are twisted and manipulated into mimicking the sounds of thunder, razors and all sorts of clatter heard in alleyways probably better left unexplored."

Get your tickets ASAP! MovieTickets.com says interest in TDK is the highest of Summer '08

A five-minute clip from the direct-to-DVD title "BATMAN GOTHAM KNIGHT" has gone online...

Garth Franklin of Dark Horizons:

It really isn't a comic book movie, this feels more like a great Michael Mann movie - literally a film of "Heat" calibre. The sole common complaint is that's it's a few minutes too long, but the story is so tight that it's difficult to see where you could trim anything out of it.

*Kevin Smith said on his blog the sequel is "the “Godfather II” of comic book films and three times more earnest than “Batman Begins”. Easily the most adult comic book film ever made."

Movieweb chatted with Gary Oldman and Nolan about a the potential third film. Oldman alluded to the possible villain when asked about the Joker returning as a character -

"...because we'll have The Riddler."

Oldman confirmed that he and Nolan are signed for three films and yet reluctantly admits that "I guess I have to come back." Oldman previously tried getting out of appearing in "The Dark Knight" but his contract wouldn't allow it.

Nolan is himself in no rush -"I take my projects one at a time, and I am not thinking about that right now. I don't know if I want to come back."

IESB.Net has posted EPK video interviews of all the cast and some of the crew here, and an 8-minute clip of behind-the-scenes footage here...

Check out this "alternate" trailer...

There's a report that Clint Eastwood is being wooed to play the Mayor of Gotham City in the next "Batman" movie.

Sounds like bunk to me

Finally the Gotham Tonight site has a video profile of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne.

I can't wait for July 18th!!!
