McCarthy will play the new boyfriend of Amanda Peet's character -Kate, the ex-wife of the lead character played by John Cusack.
Shooting begins in August in Vancouver.
McCarthy has plenty to keep him busy till then working on a new script that he intends to direct.
I may not be keen on the subject matter but at least Emmerich's got a talented cast that just keeps growing
