*The Weinstein Company. has acquired big screen rights to Gerald Clarke's "Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland" reports Variety.

Published almost a decade ago, the tome focuses on the actress and singer's personal problems and the way she was mistreated by employers, family and lovers.

Gaeland gained fame playing Dorothy in the classic film The Wizard of Oz...

She died in 1969 at the age of 47.

Clarke's biography of Truman Capote served as the basis for Dan Futterman Oscar-nominated script for Capote.





*Next up A. E. Hotchner's biography of author Ernest Hemingway called "Papa Hemingway " says The Hollywood Reporter

The best-seller explores the final 14 years of Hemingway's life, at which time he was close friends with Hotchner, who is now 88.

Hotchner wrote the 1962 film "Hemingway's Adventures of a Young Man" based on the author's stories. Hemingway had committed suicide by gunshot the year before.
