Actors Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen have joined the cast of director Michael Winterbottom’s indie political crime thriller "Promised Land" says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story concerns the events that lead up to the 1948 partition of Palestine and the subsequent creation of the state of Israel.

Jim Sturgess stars as a British officer hunting down the extremist Jewish factions.

Laurence Coriat wrote the screenplay.

Andrew Eaton is producing the pic.

Filming begins this Summer.
