Wendy Crewson joins the biopic Winnie as activist Mary Botha says The Hollywood Reporter. Botha became a social worker in South Africa after witnessing a brutal police assault on a black youth. After befriending the Mandelas during the fight against apartheid, Botha is subjected to phone-tapping, police harassment and house arrest.
Darrell Roodt directs from a script he co-wrote with Paul Johnson and Andre Pieterse. using the book Winnie Mandela: A Life by Anne Mare du Preez Bezdrob as its guide.
Jennifer Hudson is set to play Winnie Terrence Howard is set to play Nelson Mandela.
