Bill Goes Back To Work

William Petersen has joined the indie high school drama Detachment says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows an emotionally detached substitute teacher who finds himself becoming invested in the students and teachers at the troubled school where he works. He also becomes close with a homeless teen working as a prostitute.

Petersen will play a war veteran turned history teacher who gets in trouble when he shows a gay film while teaching a class lesson about tolerance.

The flick marks Petersen's first screen role since departing his TV gig on CSI last year.

Christina Hendricks Lucy Liu, Adrien Brody, Bryan Cranston, James Caan and Marcia Gay Harden. also star.

Tony Kaye is directing the film from a script by Carl Lund.

Shooting recently kicked off in New York.
