“Muncle Trogg” Picked Up by Sony Animation

Janet Foxley nabbed acclaim and attention for Muncle Trogg, and now she’s set to be in the spotlight a bit more. Deadline confirms that Sony Picture Animation purchased the motion picture rights for the children’s novel.

Here’s the synopsis from publisher Chicken House:

Giants live on top of Mount Grumble, hidden from humans below. But not all of them are giant-like. Muncle Trogg is so small that he’s laughed at by the others for being human-sized. Fed up, he decides to take a look at the Smallings that he’s meant to look like. But what he discovers is very surprising!

This sounds like a dud to me, but Sony *did* have the surprisingly enjoyable cartoon Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. However, the studio’s releasing the film adaptation of The Smurfs this year (I’m expecting much credibility to be lost when that one hits).

How do you feel about this film adaptation of Muncle Trogg?
