Helen Hunt Signs on for “Ride”

Deadline. relays that Academy Award winner Helen Hunt will direct and star in the romantic comedy Ride.

 

The film sees Hunt playing a New York resident alarmed by her 20-year-old son’s decision to surf in California instead of continuing with his college education. As she follows him to the West Coast, though, both discover themselves. I’m assuming that this is going to be some Eat, Pray, Love-esque feature except without quite as much travel. It could be promising.

Night and Day Pictures will oversee the U.S. distribution of the film, while foreign rights will be auctioned at Cannes by Intandem Films.
