Based on true events, Tom Hanks plays freighter Captain Richard Phillips who allowed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates after the Maersk Alabama hijacking in 2009 in order to guarantee the safety of his crew.
Martini will play the U.S. Navy SEALs commander who coordinated the rescue.
Catherine Keener also stars as Phillips' wife, Andrea, who remains strong and devoted to her husband throughout the entire ordeal.
Paul Greengrass is due to direct from a screenplay written by Billy Ray from the Captain's book about the incident
