Spidey Reboot: Some Plot Points Spread Over Multiple Films

The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb  tells MTV the upcoming reboot will have plot threads spread across multiple features - specifically the disappearance of Peter Parker's parents Richard (Campbell Scott) and Mary (Embeth Davidtz)

"I wanted to give the audience something new. So that started off with getting underneath the parents' story, which will unfold over probably a few movies. We don't totally wrap up that story in this first movie. It's sort of an ongoing mystery"

Webb adds that while there are some "obligations to the canon", even the key events from the spider bite itself to Uncle Ben's death are "very different" from the Spider-Man films of the past - "This is probably a reveal, but there is no wrestling match in this movie. The character is evolving in a different way"

Andrew Garfield Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen Chris Zylka Emma Stone Denis Leary and Sally Field star.

The script penned by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent sees the wall crawler take on the Lizard (Ifans)

A release date is set for July 3, 2012 for the film and then a sequel arrives in 2014.
