Boseman Is James Brown, Others Eyed For Biopic

Chadwick Boseman is poised to star as the lead of the as yet  Untitled Biopic about legendary singer James Brown  says Variety.


Boseman played another African American icon when he starred as Jackie Robinson in the sports biopic "42"

The story charts a young boy’s rise from extreme poverty and violence to become The Godfather Of Soul, one of the most influential black artists in history whose career spanned six decades.

The Wrap reports that Viola Davis, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Nelsan Ellis are under consideration for unspecified roles in the pic.


Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth ("Fair Game") wrote the script from which "The Help" director Tate Taylor is set to call action.

Mick Jagger, Brian Grazer, Victoria Pearman and Erica Huggins will produce.
