Yates Takes On Scarface Redux

Frequent Harry Potter film series director David Yates is in final talks to direct the latest version of Scarface says Deadline

Universal is said to be very happy with the current script from "Donnie Brasco" and "Quiz Show" scribe Paul Attanasio

There is no word as yet on which of the criminal elements this film will focus on--it is expected to be different to the Chicago bootlegging used in the 1932 film or the Miami drug-dealing used in Brian de Palma's 1983 version.

Yates will reportedly sign on the dotted line before the studio starts casting.

Marc Shmuger and Martin Bregman are producing the film.
