The original film followed George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart), a troubled family man whose near-suicide on Christmas Eve brings on the intervention of his guardian angel.
Donna Reed also starred.
The follow-up is entitled "It's A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story" and follows George Bailey, the unlikeable grandson of the original George.
In this version the guardian angel shows the new George how much better off the world would have been had he never been born. Karolyn Grimes, who played the daughter 'Zuzu' in the original, will play the angel.
Original cast members Jimmy Hawkins and Carol Coombs are said to be in talks to reprise their roles, but the casting of the lead won't take place until February
Bob Farnsworth and Martha Bolton wrote the screenplay. The search for a director is underway
Allen J. Schwalb and Farnsworth will produce the pic.
The film will be shot mostly in Louisiana. with a Holiday 2015 release being targeted.
