The long in development film reboot of the Battlestar Galactica franchise gets into gear again with Universal hiring of "Transcendence" scribe Jack Paglen to write the screenplay.
Variety reports that the project will be a "complete reimagining of the story" meaning that Paglen is starting from
scratch.
Director Bryan Singer was attached to helm a 'Battlestar Galactica' film back
in 2009 this new report makes no mention of his involvement.
This would mark the third version of the story about the last of
humanity of the Twelve Colonies escaping the robot Cylons and searching
for their mythical ancient homeland of Earth.
Created by Glen Larson in1978 it became an
acclaimed mini series that morphed into a four season TV show that ran from
2003 to 2009 that was shepherded by Ronald D. Moore
Larson remains as a producer on the new film.
Paglen is also writing Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2 at Fox which begins production this fall.
