Officially Marvel still has every intention of sticking to its proposed July 17th 2015 release date for the film. Unofficially though details about Wright's sudden and unexpected departure from the project have emerged via THR and the chances of a delay might be inevitable.
ComicBookMovie reported that the studio is in a panic to find a quick replacement - hoping that "Guardians Of The Galaxy" director James Gunn will step in and take on the gig once he finishes his promotional commitments for the Aug 1st release.
Gunn has proven that he can both stay in line with the studio's vision, but also be unique enough to handle potentially out there and slightly comedic material. Gunn is also already familiar with the project and could transition to it very quickly.
A few hours later the site pulled down the report...
Gunn has since effectively tweeted a denial with this:
