Liam Neeson and Felicity Jones are officially set to star in the film adaptation of author Patrick Ness' award-winning children's fantasy novel "A Monster Calls" says Screen.
The story follows a young boy who attempts to deal with the illness
of his mother (Jones) , school bullies and a yew tree in his backyard that turns into a
monster (Neeson) that tells him strange stories. Over time, the stories give him the tools to come to terms with life.
The young boy role is as yet uncast.
Ness is writing the adapted screenplay for Spanish helmer Juan Antonio Bayona.
Belén Atienza will produce the project.
The film lands in theaters on October 14, 2016.
