The Wrap reports that Rebel Wilson is attached to star in a remake of the 1980 comedy classic "Private Benjamin" for New Line Cinema.
The
story follows a redneck (Wilson) and a rich city girl who get more than
they bargained for when they enlist in the Marines to escape their
present situations.
Four years ago it looked like the lead role in the remake would go to Anna Faris
No director has yet been found for the project
Mark Gordon is producing the contemporary update, no word on when production is slated to begin.
Goldie Hawn starred in the original film directed by Howard Zieff with Hawn getting an Oscar nod as well as supporting actress for Eileen Brennan and writers Nancy Meyers, Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller.
The premise was adapted as a TV series starring Lorna Patterson.
